Manipulation Challenge 023: Collage

Postby Blacknight on Mon May 02, 2005 11:17 pm

Ok - I'm stretching this category a little with this idea, but it SORTA fits...

I've chosen three images and sized them to the same dimensions. What I was thinking would be fun would be to take them and combine them. Distort, blend, resize, change colors...whatever you think they need to work well together.

Then show us what you did. If it's really cool, be prepared to answer questions on how you did it. Like a combination photo art and manipulation thing.

Here are the three images:

Have fun! :)

Three good images to combine...looks like fun! I would definitely suggest to all that you first brighten the doll before doing anything else, so you can see her face etc. better. Lots of ways to do this...if you need a suggestion, just ask.

This was hard. I'm not sure if this is considered a collage. If not, I'll delete it.

Distort, fresco, blur for vase
Hue and sat, paint and color adjustment for doll
clone tulips for bouquet
lighting effects
Glass
. . . .I think.

I believe ya, cat (I miss your little kitten avatar) :(

I like the one with the doll holding the flower, kath!

Diz, as long as you use the images (which you did) then you can't go wrong! :)

and by the way - did someone say these were supposed to be EASY?

Just giving my kitten a rest. He had spun around about a gazillion times. I'm trying out the caricatures.

No, easy wouldn't be much fun. :beret:

Here's mine - all blend modes and masks and color adjusts. The second one has some layer "blend if" adjusts.

Good job, everybody. Y'all are keeping the doll recognizeable, but I tried to obscure her. She bothered me. Probably some deep psychological significance in that

I used the blue swirls as a background, first doing kalidescope, then radial blur. Lightened the doll, used digitial camera noise removal for the worst of the noise that came from her being so dark, then did smudge on her face and hands. Burn to darken the hair around the face. Added the flowers, and changed their colors to match her dress, and then used illumination to provide the backlighting the doll needed, and to brighten her face and the tulips.

Tye, your doll looks like she's in a beauty contest, and Jay, somehow yours look like they've been dipped in sugar. Maybe it's 'cause I haven't had breakfast yet :) Both interesting renditions, ladies.

Great photos - I love to collage :-)

this one is done in paint-shop-pro (my computer is dead so I used my hubby's and I don't have installed here my softwares)

It has all the three images - the blue was inbeded in the backround with overlay after change the color to green, the flowers on the lap of the doll and part by part with effect of brush stroke.

Dreadful dragon

This image is for Dan ; I promised him a dragon . ;)
Here is a dreadful , wicked dragon with snaky arms and breathing fire …

To make this image I used the three provided pictures , turning the canvas 90° West , a huge stack of layers and a lot of experimentations .............
