Some lovely work posted already and many, many more expected.

Here is my version in Painter French W/C paper, vignette, DWC brushes and PS light smudge with dup layer in screen mode at low opacity and white layer in overlay mode 10% to brighten and USM.

Dan, like modern art...cool look!
Gary, dances and sparkles with this technique!
Dave, very exotic look!
Ray, wonderful smooth look and the colors are striking!
Lyle, binge away! Looks like an old newspaper photo.
Helen, love those bits of confetti... so festive! Very creative and effective.

I couldn't resist this one either. Used Photoshop with AHB and some PWL.

Played with textures and grain in Impressionist to ...

Postby lylejk » Tue Dec 12, 2006 6:42 am

...simulate the large brushstrokes. Cool eh (was in Canada for 6 days in 1995; some things rubbed on me. lol)? Just a modification to CherylH's Finger Paint 1 preset again (but of course with the texture). I also added subtlely a canvas texture. Lots of massaging and sharpening later resulted in what's below. :)

Chuck, it worked again beautifully!

Lyle, a real work of modern/abstract art!

Helen, a true masterpiece! =D> Goes into my applause thread now!

Patricia, charming pic with a youthful look, and the frame is great with it!

Ray, really striking with that lighting!

Carrie, love your mouse girl! That one of the three dancers is heavenly! Must have it in my applause thread to visit again and again. =D>

Sylvia, these are spectacular! It's hard to pick, but I'll put the first one into my applause thread. =D> How did you do these? I can see the background was done with AHB, but what else did you do on the dancers?

And, yes, Sylvia, you can tell Richard Calmes to let them know. Just leave him a message on his pbase site by clicking "profile" and finding the message link.

Thanks for the honor, Phyllis.

Really, I didn't do much on the girls themselves, all I did was change the colors here and there, with highlight/shadows, levels, pastel (Niks filters) and stuff like that. I also added colors on the parts that were a bit too pale. that's about it. I also smudged a little bit on some parts.

I think what made the difference was the background. I didn't use AHB but Impressionist and put the layer on Normal at 100%, added a layer mask to bring back the girls, that's it!

To both Carrie, and Sylvia, your versions are my favorite so far. Fantastic work. Like I always say, just can't simulate a true painter (and again, I say, I'll keep trying; lol).

Well, after what I just got through, I wish I had Painter and a Wacom (would probably been faster; lol). :)
