One of these experiments I run from time to time - if I mess the pic enough, is it going to look like watercolor?
Don't like the result so much, but I'm out of options.

Great look, Dan!

Lyle, you are really hooked! Should we call Stipplers Anonymous?

Pavel, off to a good start with the wc look! I have a suggestion to bring back the lost detail. Follow the "basic outline" tute and blend it over this image (multiply, overlay, or soft light, lowered opacity in all cases). Lots of wc's have line drawings left in them.

I've attached an example. In this case, I increased the contrast and darkness of the basic outline using brightness/contrast, and used the burn tool to bring out his face more then whited out some speckles around his eyes and nose. Then used soft light blend mode at a medium opacity. I also ran a big fuzzy dodge tool set to highlights over his beard and face. Here's how it turned out.

An oil rendering. Attached is a low quality crop (to give an idea how the whole picture will look). :)

Dan, Lyle, Pavel, and Patricia - great work on all of the above examples.

I ventured towards a slightly more 'loving' example by using Flexify plugin from Flaming Pear to provide the Heart shape cylindrical concept,

Nice versions all. Mine is a simple Holiday card. Replaced background and added a border to make into a card.

Thanks, gals!

I used the Sargent brush over the entire image and then brought in detail using the camel brush cloner and bristle brush cloner with a touch of the soft cloner to bring out the faces. I then used the smeary flat cloner and tiny smeary palette knife to cut in the outlines.
